Review
The unique surprise tasting menu at Michael and Maria Maroni's tiny Northport hideaway has earned them a 28 for food, Zagat's highest rating. Self-taught Executive Chef Michael is in total control, freeing you from making any decisions. Since there are no orders to take, your waiter simply asks if you have any food allergies. So begins the culinary adventure of your life.
The courteous waitstaff includes family members like Maria's sister and niece and Mike's father Fred, who staff and guests alike affectionately refer to as "Pop." They bring out dish after dish and fill bottomless wine glasses with choreographed precision. Periodically, Michael himself appears to serve a course and ensure guests are having fun. From caviar-topped potato chips to the meatballs that brought down Bobby Flay, Michael turns his skills on almost every type of cuisine and, even with the exhaustive variety, the perfect flavors make each dish the best of that kind you'll ever eat. Take home a pot of their famous meatballs to recreate the experience at home.
Oak woodwork receives a kitschy treatment with Beatles photographs, a guitar signed by Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters and other music memorabilia. Yet the remarkable vibe is derived not only from the décor, or even the rock music playing in whole albums of Beatles and Fleetwood Mac. Michael's cooking subscribes to that same rock and roll aesthetic, an organized chaos with which he holds you completely in his thrall. He does as he pleases, taking liberties and amazing you and you will leave ecstatic after a memorable gourmet dining experience like no other.
Maroni’s now offers alfresco dining on their comfortable brick patio complete with an awning, tables and umbrellas and a new secret dining space with a sophisticated mysterious charm was added for private parties.
